Congratulations to the Champs
HOCKEY CHAMPIONS CROWNED
On Saturday, the NHIAA crowned their four State Champions, and we’d like to congratulate them.
In the Girls Division, Hanover beat Berlin Gorham 4-1. It was their 7th straight championship and 8th in 9 years.
In Division III, Berlin Gorham edged Belmont Gilford 2-1. It was their first championship (at any level) in forty years.
In Division II, Windham snuck by Bow by the score of 4-3. It was the first state championship for Windham.
And in Division I, Bedford knocked off top ranked Bishop Guertin 4-3. It was the first championship for Bedford in Division I after winning three in a row in Division II.
ALL-STATE
On Sunday afternoon, the New Hampshire Legends of Hockey (“Legends”) and the Rinks of Exeter hosted both boys Senior All-Star Classic Hockey games. The 2:00 pm game featured the very best players from Division I and II, while the 2:30 pm game Division III did the same.
For the sixth straight year, those senior players in attendance who had been selected for All-State recognition by the NH High School Hockey Coaches Association received a framed All-State certificate from the Legends. Certificates for those underclassmen and girls recipients not in attendance were taken by team mates or coaches in attendance for disbursement.
Congratulations to the following Player-of-the-Year and Coach-of-the-Year for each division.
Girls Division – Matti Hartman of Hanover and Coach Kelli Braley of Souhegan
Division I – Justin Pearson of Bishop Guertin and Coach Jim Tufts of Exeter
Division II – Doug Champagne of Bow and Coach Matt Davis of Merrimack
Division III – Caleb Drouin of Belmont-Gilford and Coach Mike Poulin of Berlin-Gorham
