Brickley Announced as Keynote Speaker
The New Hampshire Legends of Hockey are thrilled to announce their Keynote Speaker for their upcoming Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be Andy Brickley.
Brickley’s path to professional hockey began at the University of New Hampshire, where he arrived as an unrecruited walk‑on determined to prove he could play Division I hockey. His breakthrough came quickly—earning ice time as a freshman, posting a standout performance against Air Force, and ultimately becoming an All‑American and Hobey Baker finalist. Brickley played three seasons for Charlie Holt and was drafted with the final pick in the 1980 NHL Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers, a moment he often recalls with humor: “If I was picked one pick later, I would have been #1 overall.” His rise from UNH walk‑on to NHL draft pick remains one of the program’s great success stories.
Brickley went on to enjoy an 11‑year NHL career, including four seasons with the Boston Bruins—fulfilling the childhood dream he carried growing up in Melrose. “I dreamed about playing in the NHL. I dreamed about playing for the Boston Bruins,” he said. His time in Boston cemented his reputation as a smart, reliable forward whose competitiveness and hockey IQ made him a valuable part of the organization. Brickley’s professional journey extended well beyond his playing days, becoming one of the most recognizable modern voices associated with the Bruins.
Since 1996, Brickley has served as NESN’s longtime color analyst, evolving into one of the most respected broadcasters in the league. His partnership with Jack Edwards became a defining element of Bruins coverage for nearly two decades, known for its energy, unpredictability, and deep connection with fans. Brickley’s ability to blend sharp analysis with authentic passion for the franchise he once represented on the ice has made him a beloved figure across New England. Today, his voice remains synonymous with Bruins hockey, and his career—spanning UNH, the NHL, and nearly 30 years behind the microphone—stands as one of the sport’s most unique and enduring success stories.
