All-Star Results / All-State Teams Announced

Exeter, NH – Last Saturday afternoon, at the Rinks of Exeter, the New Hampshire Legends of Hockey (“Legends”) hosted both Senior All-Star Classic Hockey games. The 1:00 pm game featured the very best players from Division I and II, while the 1:30 pm game was for Division III players only.

Seniors were selected by the New Hampshire High School Hockey Coaches Association. At the conclusion of each game, a reception hosted by the Legends took place in the lobby of the Rinks of Exeter for players and their families. Click here to view 1:00 Rosters and here for the 1:30 Rosters

At the conclusion of each game, all Senior players were announced individually and received a certificate for their participation of the Senior All-Star Classic from John Normand Vice President of the Legends.

Those Senior players in attendance who had been selected for All-State recognition by the NH High School Hockey Coaches Association each received a framed All-State certificate from the Legends.

For the fifth straight year, the Legends provided framed certificates for each member of the various All-State teams. In addition, for each division, the Legends awards certificates to the Player-of-the-Year and Coach-of-the-Year. Certificates for those underclassmen and girls recipients not in attendance were taken by team mates or coaches in attendance for disbursement.

In addition, many thanks to the following DIII coaches for their time and effort to help make this event a successful one. Michael Lane – Kennett; Jay Londer – Belmont-Gilford; Dave Saball – Belmont-Gilford; Denis Kolehmainen – John Stark-Hopkinton; Matt Thompson – West; Chuck Yeager – Moultonborough-Inter Lakes; Dan Belliveau – Souhegan and Kevin Merrick of Sanborn.

Participating players from only the 1:00 pm game were eligible to be selected by the New Hampshire High School Hockey Coaches Association for the Annual Make-A-Wish team. That game against Vermont is scheduled for June 26-27 at the University of Vermont. Those players will be contacted shortly. Click here to view roster. Now for the game recap. Two large crowds of family members and friends watched the Red All-Stars and White All-Stars in the 1:00 pm game and light, dark in the 1:30 game. To view rosters, click team names to left.

A random drawing took place for each game and selected was Andrew Stevens from the first game and Erik Leger from the second. Each player won a Bauer composite stick of a standard stock pattern of their choice. They should contact our Executive Director Jim Hayes hayes743@comcast.net with their choice.

1:00 pm All-Star Game
The highlight of the first period featured perfect goaltending by Zane Angelopoulus (Team Red 14 saves) and Matt Brewster (Team White 10 saves) which thwarted the All-Star scorers.

In the second period Kyle Svenson gave Team White the lead on assists from Soucy and Burgess. It didn’t take long to even the score as Kyle Nagri scored with helpers from Antkowiak and Monahan. White retook the lead on a goal from Devon Sprague with assists going to Jacob and Stephens. Team Red then scored three straight on goals from Dakota Pidgeon, Ryan Damren and Casey Glynn. Team White rebounded with a goal by Cam Crowley to close out the scoring after two periods with Red holding a slim 4-3 lead. Brandan Mackenzie made four saves for Team Red while Sam Macdonald stopped 8 for Team White.

In the third stanza, Brett Silva scored for Team Red assisted by Palker and Devito and late in the period The Red Team struck again as Jin Kim closed out the scoring for a 6-3 final score. Mike Doyan made 7 saves for Team Red in the third while Brendan Murphy stopped 5 for Team White.

1:30 pm All-Star Game
The Dark All-Stars overmatched the Light All-Stars by the final score of 8-4. This game consisted of two halves with a skills competition at the break. In the first half, Team Light took a 3-2 lead into the break, Kyle Kolehmainen, Alec Medic and Matthew Pickman provided the goals while Team Dark had a pair of goals from Cooper Bourque. Brayden Harriman played the entire game and made 36 total stops while Bobby Davis stopped 15 for Team Dark.

In the second half, Andrew D’Amour struck first for Team Dark to even the score at 3 all. Less than a minute later, Tristan Rowe scored for Team Light to give them the lead again. However, another goal by D’Amour, two by Robby Moody and another by Zack Allard ended the day’s scoring. Josh Kondrat made 15 saves for Team Dark in the second half.

2013 Senior All-Star Games Entertaining

Senior All-Star Classic
Last Saturday night the Third Annual Senior All-Star Classic was held at the Douglas N. Everett Arena in Concord. A terrific game was played and a very large crowd of family members watched the Red All-Stars and White All-Stars. To view rosters, click here.

The two teams were selected by the Coaches Association from Divisions I, II and III. Each team used all three goaltenders: For White, Brett Glendye of Merrimack started the game before giving way to Nic Phair of Salem and then to Matt Marchman of Pinkerton. Kurt Mitchell of Bedford (White) broke the scoreless tie in the middle frame on assists from Chris O’Hara and Cullen Willey, both of Bedford. Netminders for the Red All-Stars were starter Ryan Slatky of Trinity, Brennan Young of Oyster River and James Montgomery of Hanover. Ryan Sullivan of Winnacunnet scored late in the contest on assists from Eli Cobb of Dover and Chris Lovell of Bishop Guertin.

From these players, the Coaches Association will select one team to represent New Hampshire in the Annual Make A Wish game and players will be notified by the coaches. However, when we receive the announcement, we will send out an enewsletter. The game is scheduled for Saturday July 13, 2013 and will be played at the University of Vermont in Burlington. Teams will wear the NH of Legends of Hockey uniforms which were worn in Concord.

Legends President Roland Olivier congratulates Austin Sprague of Central. Olivier presented Austin with his First Team All-State Award along with the Player of the Year Award for Division I from the NH Legends of Hockey. The All-State Awards were selected by the High School Coaches Association.

Division III Senior All-Star Classic
On Saturday afternoon the 7th Annual Division III Senior All-Star Game was held at the Laconia Ice Arena. The game featured 26 seniors from nine of the twelve division III schools. Team North was made up of seniors from Berlin, Kennett, Moultonborough-Inter Lakes & Conval High School earned the victory 11-7 over team South made up of players from John Stark-Hopkinton, Souhegan, Belmont-Gilford, Laconia-Winnisquam and Kearsarge.

Senior Anthony LaRusso of Kennett High School earned the game’s MVP honors with a 2 goal-3 assist performance. Other players considered for the honor was Connor Todd also of Kennett (3G 1A), Tim Casey of Moultonborough-Inter Lakes (3 G), Jeff O’Neil of Berlin (3 A), Simon Becka of John Stark-Hopkinton (3 G), Keith Galli of John Stark-Hopkinton (2 G) and Ryan Peterson of Souhegan High School (14 Saves).

The game featured the normal three 15 minute periods as well as a skills competition before each intermission. In the six skills competitions events the teams played to a 3-3 tie. That 3-3 tie was included in the final score. This game was sponsored and hosted by Laconia Ice Arena.

New Hampshire Legends of Hockey
Consistent with its mission of preserving the history of ice hockey, and growing the sport of ice hockey, in New Hampshire, the New Hampshire Legends of Hockey “Legends” supports secondary school hockey by awarding certificates to New Hampshire high school and prep school All-State players and coaches of the year, and sponsors the Annual Senior All-Star Hockey Classic and Make-A-Wish games. Red All-Stars beat White 5-3

Concord, NH

The NH High School Hockey Coaches Association and NH Legends of Hockey “NH Legends” hosted the Annual Senior All-Star Classic this weekend at the Everett Arena in Concord .

Forty-two of the best high school seniors from Division I, II and III gathered for the Red White game. In the end, Team Red came out on top 5-3. They were led by Joe Libby of Trinity and Division II Player of the Year (“POY”) David Downie of Merrimack who each potted two goals. Kevin Murphy Division III POY netted the other goal. Team White started slow, going down 4-1 after one period but made a good game of it. White was led by a pair of goals from Eddie Conroy of St. Thomas and a single tally from Nate Philbrick of Bishop Brady. Each goaltender played one period. Team Red’s net was protected by Cam Anzel, Nick Dube and Tyler Fay while White’s netminding came from Drew Pearson, Tyler Briand and Andrew Civello.

Players participating in the game will vie for roster spots for the Annual “Make a Wish” game in Burlington , VT. which will be held the weekend of July 13-15, 2012. The actual date and time is yet to be determined. Selected players will be notified by the Coaches Association by March 31st.

Prior to the game, NH Legends President Roland Olivier presented certificates to Player of the Year David Downie and Kevin Murphy as well as Coach of the Year certificates to Mike Connell of Trinity and Marty Myers of Division II Champion Bedford. Each of the All-State recipients in attendance received a framed certificate donated by the Legends. Other All-State recipients should receive their awards from their coaches in the next couple weeks.

In addition, the Legends recognized this years’ Four State Champion Teams: Pinkerton Div. I; Bedford Div. II; Kennett Div. II and Girls Hanover.
