A LITTLE HISTORY
Manchester Regional Youth Hockey Association (MRYHA), a non-profit organization established in 1965, is dedicated to providing children in Southern NH opportunities compete at all levels of youth hockey. To put it simply, a few of the of founding members like Alphonse Corriveau, Paul Wise and Hubert McDonough Jr. said “we just wanted to give young kids a chance to play hockey”.
For over 50 years MRYHA has done just that. During its peak, well over 1,500 kids participated in MRYHA annually. It’s a bit different today given the evolution of youth sports in the United States towards for-profit programs. MRYHA still continues to be the largest program in the state with more than 500 boy’s and girl’s playing and well 100 dedicated volunteers who continue to ensure MRYHA’s mission is fulfilled.
Numerous hockey players growing up through MRYHA have gone onto successful college and professional hockey careers. A few notable include players include: Rand Pecknold; Jeff Serowik; Hubert McDonough; Jeff Giuliano and more recently, Tim Schaller and Zach Sanford.
We hope you can help us celebrate the history of MRYHA on October 21, 2018.
