Hall of Fame Nominations Open - Hanover High to be Recognized

Hall of Fame Nominations Open

On January 1, 2014, the New Hampshire Legends of Hockey Nomination Review Committee will begin accepting nominations of candidates for induction into the New Hampshire Hockey Hall of Fame Class of 2014.

The Legends Hockey Hall of Fame was established to recognize and honor those men and women who have made significant contributions to sport of ice hockey in New Hampshire by their participation as Players, Coaches, Builders, Officials or as members of the Media. Through our first twelve years, more than one hundred deserving individuals have been inducted into the Hall of Fame.

If you know of anyone you feel may be a Hall of Fame candidate, the Legends committee encourages you to submit a nomination form for consideration of this high honor in any one of the above categories.

NH Legends of Hockey Policies and Procedures for Nomination states, "It is important that any nominee be of high moral character and the Induction Committee and Board of Directors shall consider such matters when considering candidates for induction."

To be eligible for induction in the player category, your candidate must be a New Hampshire native who played ice hockey at an exemplary level or, while an active player, made a significant contribution to the sport of ice hockey in New Hampshire.

Nominees for consideration into the Hall of Fame in the Coach, Builder, Official and Media categories must have made significant contributions to the sport of ice hockey in New Hampshire. Nominees for these non-player categories need not have been born in New Hampshire nor must they currently reside in New Hampshire.

Selected individuals will be recognized at the annual Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on October 26, 2014 at the Grappone Conference Center in Concord, NH.

The Legends will also be honoring the Hanover High School Mauraders boys' and girls' ice hockey programs.  Hanoverís boys' program began play in 1933 (this season celebrating its 80th year) and has competed in 15 NHIAA State Championships, winning eight titles. The Mauraudersí girls' program was founded in 1987 and is entering its 27th year of play, winning 5 NHIAA Championships.  Of note, the Hanover boys won their first NHIAA State Championship in 1970, when they became the first team -  other than Notre Dame (of Berlin) and Berlin High School -  to take the crown.

Hanover High School Representatives at the 2013 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Left to Right:  Dan Peraza, Head Boys' Coach Dick Dodds, Head Girls' Coach John Dodds, Bob Peiffer and Clark Brighton.  Peraza, Peiffer and Brighton are all former players for the Marauders.
